Woodstock & Nullagine Destination Branding

The Seven Sisters

Tharra and Karnparnmana is the traditional name for Woodstock Abydos Protected Reserve, located on Palyku country in WA’s East Pilbara Region. Dreaming stories from Palyku country are connected to the north-west coast of the Pilbara and to the Western and Central Desert.

Palyku elders, Irrungadji artists and Terra Rosa’s anthropologists worked with Publik on the interpretation of artworks to design a suite of signs that could share the stories across Palyku country.

Publik designed, fabricated and carried out a remote install for this project. The project used the Publik product Colourlok to ensure longevity in the harsh environment. An appropriate powder coat was chosen to sympathise with its backdrop and ensure the artwork would stand out.

These signs acknowledge the dreaming story of the Seven Sisters and are placed at various sites on Palyku country. The signs help to protect and acknowledge Aboriginal Cultural Sites that are identified as ‘at risk’.
